Hat Pins
Hat pins are long pins that were traditionally used to secure hats to a person's hair or clothing. They became especially popular during the late 1800s and early 1900s, when large decorative hats were fashionable.
Many hat pins have ornamental heads made from glass, metal, enamel, beads, rhinestones, pearls, or carved materials. Today they are used in millinery, costume design, historical dress, collectibles, and decorative crafts.
Because hat pins can be very long and sharp, many are used with protective end caps or guards. Antique hat pins may also be collected for their decorative value rather than used as everyday fasteners.
| Approximate Length | Common Uses |
